Meet Bill Cohen: Folk Musician, Storyteller, and Community Voice

Bill Cohen is an acoustic guitar player and folksinger who has been a prominent voice in the Columbus, Ohio folk music scene for decades. His journey began in the 1960s with anti-war protest music, and has since expanded to themed concerts where he plays the songs of legendary folksingers and shares his passion for storytelling. Bill performs at various venues across the community—subject to availability—often joined by musical friends and collaborators like Joanne Blum, Joe Lambert, Phil Hart, Teresa Schleifer, and David Melamed. His concerts raise funds for causes close to the community, including Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, the Ohio Council of Churches, the Columbus Metropolitan Library Foundation, the Community Resource Center, and the International Medical Alliance of TN. Whether you’re hearing him for the first time or the hundredth, Bill’s warmth and authenticity make every performance feel like a gathering of old friends.
